Room hire
Wakefield Cathedral has four spaces for hire, accommodating groups sizes up to 600 people, from the boardroom style to the mediaeval splendour of the Cathedral nave.
For groups who have members with special needs or Disabled Peoples' Organisations who may be considering hiring the facilities, currently the Cathedral Nave, Treacy Hall and the Education Centre are fully accessible at ground floor level. The Eastwood Room is only accessible via a staircase. There is a fully accessible toilet in the corridor between Treacy Hall and the Cathedral. The Education Centre has accessible toilet facilities on the ground floor. However, we are constantly looking at how we can improve the accessibility of our buildings and facilities to make them available for all. There is a 'loop system' for people who have a hearing impairment and a PA system and power supply for 'powerpoint' or audio presentations.
Eastwood Room
This recently enlarged bright meeting room will seat up to 40 people in theatre style. Looking out onto the Cathedral, this first-floor room is quiet and airy. The Eastwood Room has secure access so your meetings will not be disturbed. The paintings hung in this suite are by the local contemporary artist Steve Simpson.
Treacy Hall
The most flexible space available at the Cathedral is the octagonal Treacy Hall. This room can accommodate over 100 people in theatre style or be set up as a boardroom for groups of 20-40 people with plenty of surrounding space for small group work (for smaller groups we recommend using the Eastwood Conference Suite). Treacy Hall is also the ideal location for a networking event or for a banquet. Your booking could include a tour of the Cathedral. Following the expansion of our Coffee Mornings, daytime availability of Treacy Hall is restricted - please speak to Julie or Diana (details below) regarding availability.
Cathedral Nave
The mediaeval Cathedral nave provides a unique setting for a special event such as a talk, presentation or lecture and can accommodate 600 people. Treacy Hall can also be hired alongside the Cathedral for provision of refreshments before, during or after your event.
Education Centre
Accessible from Westmorland Street (next door to the Cathedral) the Education Centre can accommodate up to 30 people in either boardroom or classroom styles.
