Wakefield Cathedral has launched its own special sweet rock which will go on sale for the first time at the Seaside in the City event this weekend.
The pink rock, which spells Wakefield Cathedral all the way through, has just gone on sale in the Cathedral bookshop as part of its preparation for the local authority’s Seaside in the City event in the precinct this weekend.
The Cathedral will run a BBQ, a bottle hooplah, tombola and hook-a-duck stalls this weekend and the Pop up Cathedral will be there to serve teas and coffees alongside refreshments available in the Cathedral coffee shop.
The rock will also be available at the Cathedral’s latest exciting initiative, its Discovery Arcade which will be launched for October half term and will offer a wide range of activities for children and young people that tells the stories and the heritage of this Grade 1 Listed building.
The Very Revd Jonathan Greener, the Dean of Wakefield said: “We wanted to make something of Seaside in the City here in Wakefield, and rock seemed the obvious answer. It also fits well with our Discovery Arcade, to be launched this autumn.
“Cathedral rock is just another way of us engaging with the life of our city, and inviting people in to explore the building. And it’s fun, and tasty,” he added.
