Rhubarb Festival 2019

Wakefield Cathedral is getting ready to play its part in the city’s rhubarb festival this weekend – with a rhubarb inspired menu, a rhubarb trail, rhubarb arts and crafts – and our own Archdeacon celebrating all things rhubarb at our Sunday morning services.

Pick up a copy of the Wakefield Cathedral Rhubarb Trail from welcomers inside the Cathedral Open 10-5 Friday and Saturday.
Rhubarb! Rhubarb! Family Arts and Crafts is open to families from 11.00 –15.00 on the festival Saturday.
Cathedral Kitchen open 10.00 -15.00 each day with its rhubarb inspired menu

I want Wakefield Cathedral to be a place where people can reflect on these issues without feeling they are being forced into a particular position; where they can have the space to think these things through. We want people to know that this beautiful building is for everyone.Here at Wakefield Cathedral they can experience that sense of peace, quiet and tranquillity that is so often denied us but which is so important for reflection.
I want it to be a place where people can understand something about themselves and about others, a place which enables them to test their sense of identity in a kind and supportive arena.

Saying Goodbye to the Lawsons

ohn will resign his post as residentiary canon at Wakefield Cathedral while still continuing as principal of the Diocesan School of ministry hub at Mirfield, and June is to take up parish ministry as Vicar of the parishes of All Saints, Pontefract and St Giles with St Mary’s.
The sub dean of Wakefield Cathedral, Canon Tony Macpherson said: “It was fitting to say our goodbyes on Candlemas Sunday which tells us to Let now your servant depart in peace.
