Meet the Artist: Helen Riddle
18 May 2021
Helen’s work can be seen around our Cathedral Kitchen throughout June and July.
From her studio in The Art House, Wakefield, Helen works in textiles, printmaking and illustration. She creates artworks and gifts by combining wet-felting, needle-felting, free-motion embroidery and stitch.
Helen’s work has been for sale at events and galleries around the UK and online. Since 2017, she has also been creating bodies of work for exhibition, including two Art Walk shows and, most recently, The Doffer and the Fancy: Re-imagining the Machine at Leeds Industrial Museum (June-December 2019), an exhibition of large textile sculptures and installations, inspired by and exhibited alongside the mighty textile machinery at Armley Mills.
Helen was awarded the City and Guilds Medal for Excellence in Constructed Textiles in 2014 and delivers textile workshops for the National Trust, Royal Horticultural Society and The Hepworth, Wakefield.
