"Sleep Out 2021" with CAP Care

22 November 2021

CAP (Community Awareness Programme) Care Wakefield are back with their annual Sleep Out event this December, encouraging people to support the disadvantaged in Wakefield, be it through sponsorship or taking part in the sleep out themselves.

Wakefield Cathedral are proud to once again be supporting this noble event, with the sleep out taking place on the cathedral's south steps.

When is it taking place?
From 22:00 on Friday 03 December to 06:30 on Saturday 04 December 2021

Why sleep out?
To raise awareness of the plight of the many disadvantaged people in the Wakefield District whilst also raising funds for CAP Care’s work to alleviate these problems

Information from CAP Care for prospective participants:

You are invited to join a “sleep-out”, spending a night sleeping rough in the grounds of Wakefield Cathedral. The event will be stewarded by staff and volunteers from the Community Awareness Programme and there will be a police presence all through the night. Toilet facilities will be available at the cathedral.

Please register with CAP Care prior to the event (see contact details below).

Please provide your own sleeping equipment, although if this is difficult or you would like any advice please contact us. Please bring any food/drink/snacks you may need to help you through the night, and please also ensure any waste/rubbish you generate is cleared away on the Saturday morning before you leave. Please do not bring or consume alcohol during the event. Thank you.

Please (if you are able) seek sponsorship for your participation in this event. The Community Awareness Programme is a charity that helps over 900 people from the Wakefield District every year, at a rate of around 85 per day. Since Lottery funding ended in November 2018 we desperately need the support of local people and organisations to continue to provide our much-needed services for an increasing number of people. Any funds that you may be able to raise will be very gratefully received. There is a paper sponsorship form available or you can encourage sponsors to give at:
