Become a Cathedral Patron

Wakefield Cathedral

Become a Patron of Wakefield Cathedral and become part both of our history and our future

The cathedral is the oldest building in Wakefield, sitting at the heart of the city and the reason for our city status. Its beauty is something to be cherished by us all.

A place for sanctuary, encounter, prayer, and culture for centuries, the cathedral is a rich repository of our shared heritage. It is also a living community which continues to be shaped by and for the people of Wakefield and surrounding district.

It costs over £2000 a day to maintain our beautiful building, run our music and education programmes and remain open every day as a place of welcome for all. We receive no funding from the government or diocese, relying on the generosity of voluntary donations whilst working hard to develop other sources of income.

Wakefield Cathedral

By becoming a Patron you will not only be helping us to meet those costs and enabling us to safeguard our heritage for the future, but you will be joining a group of likeminded people who care about the City and District of Wakefield, and value the place of the cathedral in its past and future.

Our Patrons

We offer our heartfelt gratitude to our patrons; their support helps us to fulfil our mission through outreach projects, pastoral work and special events, as well as preserving our rich history.

Wakefield BID

Wakefield BID is proud to be a patron of Wakefield Cathedral, recognising its central role as both a cultural and historical landmark in our city. For us, supporting the cathedral is about more than preserving an iconic building; it’s about sustaining a vibrant space that serves the community through worship, events, arts, and education.

We believe in the importance of collaboration between local businesses and heritage sites, and our patronage is a testament to this. By investing in the cathedral, we are not only contributing to the economic vitality of Wakefield but also ensuring that this treasured site continues to be a source of pride and enrichment for everyone who lives, works, and visits here.
