Cathedral Choir - Lay Clerks
We have vacancies for voluntary Alto,Tenor and Bass Lay Clerks to sing at Wakefield Cathedral from September 2018 onwards. The Choir performs a wide, exciting and varying repertoire.
The normal weekly timetable is currently
10.30am - 10.55am - Rehearsal; 11.00am - Sung Eucharist
3:00pm - 3:25pm - Rehearsal; 3.30pm - Evensong
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday are normally free days for Lay Clerks, Evensong being said, or sung by the boys/girls.
6.00pm - 6.25pm - Rehearsal; 6.30pm - Evensong
7:45pm - 9.00pm - Lay Clerk and Choral Scholar (lower voices) Rehearsal; 9.00pm - Lazy Compline (2nd Thursdays term time, lower voices only)
There are occasional extra services, a few arranged at short notice, which are over and above the regular services.In addition, the choir normally goes to other venues in the diocese several times a year to sing at services or concerts; it also takes part in the Girls' and Boys' Cathedrals Festivals.
