  A Blossoming Partnership

16 June 2022

Wakefield Cathedral has been proud to partner with Camphill, Wakefield’s specialist college for SEND students, for a number of years, and earlier this week we were pleased to grow our partnership once again thanks to a little bit of gardening work.

On Monday (13 June), we were pleased to welcome the latest student from Camphill to Wakefield Cathedral to help with the planting up of our Planters for the summer.

Our four planters take pride of place in front of the West Doors and Camphill did a great job, not just planting the flowers, but also growing them and organising the whole volunteer work experience opportunity through their Horticulture department.

Ryan Colliar-Grint, Communications, Marketing & Digital Officer at Wakefield Cathedral said: “We were delighted to work with Camphill once again to look after the planters here at the cathedral. As we head into the summer months we are pleased to be offering a warm welcome to all who come to the cathedral, and the planters located at our West Doors provide a wonderful first impression for all who visit.”

Camphill students will continue to look after the planters on a weekly-basis, providing some great hands-on work experience for students looking to explore the world of urban horticulture.
