Music is central to the life of the cathedral and being part of it as a chorister can be a life transforming experience. It’s an opportunity that we would like to be on offer to children from any background across the Wakefield District.
By sponsoring a chorister, you will enable our choral musical tradition to continue at the highest level, whilst providing the lifelong benefits of being a chorister to a new generation of children.
Your gift of £20 per month, £60 per quarter, or £240 per year will help to cover the basic costs of one chorister and will sustain and develop the music department in the long-term.
I love everything about being in the choir! I love singing amazing songs which I’ve never heard of before, being a part of the choir and the chance to make new friends, it’s been great!
- Arthur, Wakefield Cathedral Chorister
Your sponsorship will support one chorister by contributing towards the highest quality professional training; a small termly payment in recognition of their hard work; robes, music and all other resources and materials; the development of lifelong skills, opportunities, friendships and the joy of music.

I love being able to sing in front of people, and especially when I see people in the audience who I know. When I first started I was quite nervous but excited, now I just really enjoy it and singing along to joyful music.
