Become a Patron of Wakefield Cathedral and become part both of our history and our future.
The cathedral is the oldest building in Wakefield, sitting at the heart of the city and the reason for our city status. Its beauty is something to be cherished by us all.
It costs almost £2000 a day to maintain our beautiful building, run our music and education programmes and remain open every day as a place of welcome for all. We receive no funding from the government or diocese, relying on the generosity of voluntary donations whilst working hard to develop other sources of income.
By becoming a Patron you will not only be helping us to meet those costs and enabling us to safeguard our heritage for the future, but you will be joining a group of likeminded people who care about the City and District of Wakefield, and value the place of the cathedral in its past and future.
We have tiered Individual/Joint Patron opportunities as well as Corporate Patron opportunities.
Music is central to the life of the cathedral and being part of it as a chorister can be a life transforming experience. It’s an opportunity that we would like to be on offer to children from any background across the Wakefield District.
By sponsoring a chorister, you will enable our choral musical tradition to continue to the highest level, whilst providing the lifelong benefits of being a chorister to a new generation of children.
Your gift of £20 per month, £60 per quarter, or £240 per year will help to cover the basic costs of one chorister and will sustain and develop the music department in the long-term.
Signing up to sponsor a Chorister couldn’t be easier. Simply use the online giving form above, select Fund option as ‘Sponsor a Chorister’ and then decide how you would like to make your payments (either £20 per month or a one-off payment of £240). Complete the payment process and you are all good to go!
If you would like to provide the cathedral with a sustainable source of income to protect the future of the cathedral for generations to come, why not consider setting up a monthly donation to any amount of your choice.
The Parish Giving Scheme is Wakefield Cathedral’s chosen provider for handling monthly direct debits. The scheme is free for the cathedral to use and for the donor too, meaning 100% of your donations each month goes directly to us.
To register today please visit www.parishgiving.org.uk and search for “Wakefield Cathedral” to begin your registration or download our “How it works” document below.
Alternatively, for those not wishing to use Parish Giving Scheme, regular giving can also be set up using the donation screen above – however a small percentage of this goes to the service provider (Churchsuite) to cover administration costs.
