Peregrines return to Wakefield Cathedral in 2024

The peregrines have once again returned to the nesting box on the cathedral tower for 2024.

The first peregrine chicks of 2023 were hatched on 27 March, and we will watch on over the coming weeks and months for this year’s developments.

Since 2015 Wakefield Cathedral has seen Peregrine Falcons nesting on the cathedral tower, with thousands of people from across the world taking a keen interest in the birds’ development year on year.

Thanks to the Wakefield Peregrine Project, the movements and progress of the peregrines and their chicks have been monitored and shared publicly, with 29 chicks hatched over the last seven year period.
