Wakefield Cathedral is open to visitors all year round to come in and explore the magnificent interiors which we have to offer. Regardless of your personal beliefs, you will always receive a warm welcome when visiting the cathedral and our doors are open to all who wish you come through.
Entry is free (donations are greatly appreciated).
If you are wanting a more formal visit to the cathedral, we are able to offer cathedral tours with a guide (pre-arrangement will be necessary – call 01924 373923 or email admin@wakefield-cathedral.org.uk for more information).
Likewise if you are attending as part of a larger group, do get in touch and we will be happy to arrange for a personalised tour for you and your friends. Discover the history of the cathedral, the meaning behind our stained glass windows and the hidden gems located throughout the building.
For schools and uniformed organisations (Scouts, Guides etc) visit the Learning pages of our website to find out more about visiting the cathedral, arranging tours and other engagement opportunities.
Occasionally we also offer Tower Tours, giving individuals the opportunity to ascend the church tower, see our bell-ringing room and enjoy the panoramic views of the city stood next to Yorkshire’s tallest spire.
A small fee is charged for these tours and details on upcoming tours and how to book will be located on our Events page of the website as and when they are scheduled.
*Please note, we are unable to permit the public to look around the tower unaccompanied at any times other than during Tower Tours for health and safety reasons.
