Our Bishop, The Right Reverend Nicholas Baines, announced this morning he will retire this autumn as Bishop of Leeds. His announcement can be read on the Diocese of Leeds website.
Dean of Wakefield, The Very Reverend Simon Cowling, said, “Bishop Nick’s clear-sighted leadership and wise pastoral oversight have been instrumental in ensuring that the young Diocese of Leeds has developed and flourished so effectively since 2014. He has shown us how we can live and learn together in a spirit of mutual love and respect and has been a model of faithfulness to God’s calling. We offer Nick and Linda the assurance of prayer for God’s blessing, and wish them much happiness, as they prepare to move into the next phase of their life.”
Bishop Nick will be at the cathedral to officiate for the last time on Sunday 26th October at 15:30. Please pray for him, Linda, and for the Diocese in this time of change.
