At packed services on Sunday 06 July, we said many, many thank yous to Anne and Simon Cowling after seven demanding but fruitful years in Wakefield. In the morning, the Dean presided for his final Cathedral Eucharist and we toasted Anne and Simon, with various presents (some edible!) from the congregations. In the afternoon, civic and diocesan guests, together with those whom Simon had served across Yorkshire in his ministry gathered for a stunning Farewell Evensong. There was repeated and sustained applause, and not a few moist eyes!
We pray for Anne and Simon, and the family, during this time of change for them, and wish them every blessing for their future.
