As we approach Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, we invite you to join us at the Cathedral for a series of services and acts of remembrance, as we honour those who have lost their lives in conflict and reflect on the importance of peace and reconciliation.
Remembrance offers us an opportunity to come together as a community, to give thanks for those who have served and sacrificed, and to hold in our thoughts and prayers all those affected by war and conflict across the world today.
We will be marking this important time with the following services and acts of remembrance.
Friday 6th November at 7pm
We will welcome members of the community to the Cathedral for the Mayor’s Festival of Remembrance, an evening of reflection as we remember those who have given their lives in service to others.
Guests are kindly asked to be seated by 6.45pm.
Sunday 8th November at 10.45am
On Remembrance Sunday, we will join with the wider Wakefield community for the annual Remembrance Parade, which will proceed from Wakefield Cathedral to Wakefield War Memorial.
Together, we will honour those who have served and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Wednesday 11th November at 11am
On Armistice Day, we invite you to join us inside the Cathedral as we observe the traditional two minutes’ silence at 11.00am.
This shared moment of stillness gives us an opportunity to remember those who have died in conflict, reflect on the human cost of war, and pray for peace in our world today.
