We are pleased to welcome Zoe Smith to Wakefield Cathedral as our new Development Manager. Read on to find out more about Zoe, her experience and what she is looking forward to in her new role…
Name:
Zoe Smith
Role:
Development Manager
Where did you work previously?
I’ve joined Wakefield Cathedral from The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds where I was the Individual Giving Manager. Previous to that I was working for a small Christian charity called ‘Caring For Life’ who support vulnerable people in society.
Why did you apply to work at Wakefield Cathedral?
I am really excited to be here at Wakefield Cathedral – it is an amazing place to be able to call work! The building is magnificent and I’m looking forward to playing my part in supporting the wonderful mission of the cathedral, across the diocese and farther afield.
What does the role of Development Manager entail?
My role will see me heading up all things income – developing income opportunities to help the cathedral continue with its mission.
As Development Manager I will be looking into various income avenues from grant applications through to regular giving.
How has your first week been?
Really lovely. It has been great to meet everyone and I’ve really been made to feel so welcome. Although I’ve only been here one week it feels like I’ve been here much longer… in a good way of course!
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
When I’m not working I enjoy spending time with my husband and our three children and heading out with our springer spaniel.
Any further comments to add?
I’m really looking forward to learning more about the cathedral and meeting more people as I continue in my role. Thank you to everyone who has made me so welcome already.
