Bishop Nick Baines retires on 30th December and clergy and lay people from across the Diocese gathered for his final public service at Ripon Cathedral this weekend. Acting Dean of Wakefield, Dr Philip Hobday, said, “Following farewell services in Wakefield and Bradford Cathedrals, it was a powerful and moving service at Ripon Cathedral to say thank you and goodbye to our first Bishop. Bishop Nick’s clarity and consistency was essential to the first creation of a new Church of England diocese in nearly a century. A compelling advocate for Christian faith he has brought a global perspective to Yorkshire and the national and international stages. With deep thanksgiving, we pray for Linda, Nick, and the family in this new stage of their lives.”
