Those of you who were in the cathedral last weekend might have noticed the pull up banners that we borrowed from the diocese. ‘Good news for All Creation’ is a diocesan message and Eco Church is an organisation specifically encouraging churches from all denominations throughout the UK to work towards awards demonstrating the drive to net zero and/or sustainability.

Each year during my time as an undergraduate, and for many of the years I spent as a graduate student, I set my alarm early on 1st May so that I would wake up in time to go down to Magdalen Bridge to hear the Choir of Magdalen College singing from the tower to welcome in the month of May.

Do you have a cupboard or drawer in the kitchen for plastic containers? Most people do. I’m not sure where the mentality comes from but it’s probably down to age and the ‘don’t throw it away, it might be useful?’ thought that encourages so many of us to keep these receptacles.

The other day I came across a news article about bumblebees. Researchers in Canada had been studying queen bumblebees in their dormant state but, in a laboratory experiment gone wrong, they had accidentally drowned them.
