A song that nearly all of us know. Small children especially love to sit on the front seat upstairs on the bus. Going on a bus is such an adventure; the wait at the bus stop hoping that no one is sitting in that precious front seat.

As Wakefield Trinity celebrates 150 years of playing rugby with over 100 past and present players, fans, staff, directors and guests gathered at Wakefield Cathedral on 21 September to mark the historic milestone. The first players came from Holy Trinity Church Wakefield and started playing on Heath Common, before moving to the current site at Belle Vue.

Last Saturday saw the triumphant return of Wakefield Cathedral’s annual Abseil Fundraiser after a post-covid break. 34 brave and determined locals gathered to take on the towering heights of the cathedral’s iconic tower, all in the name of raising funds for causes close to their heart.

I am writing this reflection on Thursday, which is Holy Cross Day. Growing up in a non-denominational church, I don’t have a long memory of celebrating the powerful symbolism of the cross on this designated day.
